THE BIRDS (1963)

An innocuous romantic triangle involving wealthy, spoiled Melanie Daniels (Tippi Hedren), handsome Mitch Brenner (Rod Taylor), and schoolteacher Annie Hayworth (Suzanne Pleshette) turns into a supernatural, horror mystery as their sense of security is slowly eroded by the curious behavior of the birds in the area. At first it's no more than a sea gull swooping down and pecking at Melanie's head. But things take a nasty turn when hundreds of birds suddenly, for no apparent reason, converge on a children's party, then in droves at a school yard and finally, randomly, in swooping, dive bombing numbers against the citizens of the town of Bodega Bay itself. Director: Alfred Hitchcock. Cast: Rod Taylor, Jessica Tandy, Suzanne Pleshette, Tippi Hedren, Veronica Cartwright, Ethel Griffies, Charles McGraw, Ruth McDevitt, Lonny Chapman, Joe Mantell, Doodles Weaver and Malcolm Atterbury.
