THE SHINING (1980)

Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson), his son Danny (Danny Lloyd) and his wife Wendy (Shelly Duvall) become the winter caretakers of an isolated, Colorado mountain hotel known as 'The Overlook' where Danny begins to see disturbing visions of the hotel's past via a telepathic gift known as "The Shining". While undertaking a writing project, Jack Torrance slowly begins to go insane as a result of cabin fever and the chilling haunting's of the ghosts of former guests of the Overlook Hotel. After being convinced by the murderous whims of a waiter's ghost to "correct" his family, Jack Torrance attempts to do just that. Director: Stanley Kubrick.
